Jack's Valley

Tent city coming to life

picture of the troops starting their march to the valley. This is apparently a big deal with many people lining the parade route with signs and hollers of encouragement.

Well yesterday the basic cadets got to get out for a few hours to a sponsors home. Caleb had the priviledge of going to head coach Troy Calhouns house for the day with 5 others. He enjoyed his time and was able to make a short call home. He is loving it and was very positive in everything that he said. The first half of Basic Training is done and today starts the second half with the troops marching to Jack's Valley which will be home for the next couple of weeks. I have included the following description from the webguy taking all these great pictures.

What is Jack's Valley?

Jacks Valley is a 3,300 acre training complex where the Basics will spend the majority of 2nd BCT. The location is the valley north of North Gate Boulevard. They go out there, pitch big tents, and camp out. They will return from Jacks Valley on Saturday, July 26th.

What do they do out there? Remember when we were young and watched movies like Private Benjamin, Stripes, Officer and a Gentleman, etc? All of the running over obstacles; falling in the mud; crawling through dirt. That's it!

I will try and post more pictures when I find them, The preceding is a picture of the troops starting their march to the valley. This is apparently a big deal with many people lining the parade route with signs and hollers of encouragement.

More Field Day

Do you think he looks like he is having a little fun or what?I can't tell you how good it is to see his smile and know that he is happy and loving it there at the
academy. The prep school sure seems to have paid off in many ways. It was great preparation for this years experience at least so far.

Looks like trash talkin to me LOL

Looks like a challenge is being made to the opposing team

Field day

Looks like the His squadron the Executioners just may have won the tug of war LOL. I am so happy for him! He had such a great time this day of field day competition. When he called yesterday he did say they won the tug of war. I love the intense picture of him running. My motherly heart is at rest tonight! God has been so good to Caleb!

More Proof of Life

Doesn't look too miserable right at that moment although after having his head shaved for the second time I don't think he was happy with the new doo. We can't wait to talk to him.He should be able to call Sunday but if he doesn't call Alex will relay messages for us.Keep praying for him.His coach called the other night and said he is doing really well so that is a relief.

Praises

I have often come to this blog with requests of you to pray for us as we have been on this new and uncertain path. We have truly seen God answer our prayers and yours on our behalf. We are once again in AWE of how directly God has chosen to answer those prayers. He has continued to provide for us through some of you in anonymous gifts that have arrived just in time to prevent financial ruin. These gifts have caused our faith to increase and our praises to burst forth to our God in thanksgiving and increased dependence. We have had a lot of things transpire since the last time I wrote about Robert's job situation. He submitted countless applications and we have heard nothing from anyone of them...not even a phone call or rejection...just nothing.During this time of silence from employers Robert has been in dialog with Southern Seminary about a job they were in the process of creating. That has been going on since January and we were very unsure if this would actually be developing into a position. It has been a long wait but God was surely at work. The job was created and Robert started last Monday.I can't even describe how God has provided for us in during this time. I don't know if you would believe me if I went into all the details. All the time of silence from employers is so clear now that he has this job on campus. If he had been hired outside of this Seminary position he might have missed out on having it.My heart is so full that praying is difficult because of my inadequacies to express my gratitude for Jesus,His love for me,His Sovereignty,Mercy,Kindness,Patience etc... I always turn to music to find those expressions at least in part.So I have included a couple of songs that express my love for Christ. I hope these songs will enhance your worship and praise as well. Thank you all for your prayers and gifts as they have truly been used by God to sustain us in spirit and body. Please continue to pray that God will help us live simply and frugally so that Robert can finish school and once again be able to regularly proclaim the Gospel and Shepherd the flock that God will entrust him with.

He Is Alive

We have been able to see some pictures of caleb thanks to a wonderful service provided by someone named the webguy who works for the Association of graduates at the Academy. He goes around filming our sons during basic.Videos and stills. Here is Caleb eating...His favorite thing to do.And...No the other cadets that you see in this picture are not praying. They all have to sit at attention on the first 6 inches of their chairs and stare at an eagle emblem on their plate the whole time they are eating.
