As I drove the long ride back to Louisville from Jacksonville Fl Wednesday I was listening to a cd by Matthew smith and this song just overtook me with its deep meaning and implications. It is so humbling to consider the Grace that God has shown towards me.I so see myself as having been dead in my trespasses and sins just as much as Lazarus was dead in that tomb until Jesus commanded him to come forth.I was just as Lazarus unable to choose to come to life until Jesus did a miracle in my heart and caused me to become alive in Him.Praise the Lord for His Mercy!
My Lord, I did not choose You,
For that could never be;
My heart would still refuse You,
Had You not chosen me.
You took the sin that stained me,
You cleansed me, made me new;
Of old You have ordained me,
That I should live in You.
Unless Your grace had called me
And taught my op’ning mind,
The world would have enthralled me,
To heav’nly glories blind.
My heart knows none above You;
For Your rich grace I thirst;
I know that if I love You,
You must have loved me first.
