Not about shopping

This movie is so moving as we get a chance to look at what life for an average Jewish family was at the time culturally and practically. Of course their lives did not work out to be just ordinary. I am in awe as I stop from the bustle of Christmas shopping to look at this clip and ponder the reality of what God did for us. It is not about mary or Joseph anymore than it is about us...it is about God and how He brought about His redemptive plan.It is so moving to see that God first appeared to lowly shepherds just like He speaks to us today...His chosen people don't all look like the wise men or Kings from the east just ordinary lowly people that He has chosen to live in and open our eyes to His goodness. Lets not let the shopping distract us from the important part of this season and that is to come as a lowly shepherd and worship as the wise man said "the greatest of kings"...King Jesus.

LOTS OF NEW POST BELOW!!!

CALEB IS COMING HOME AGAIN!

We are feeling so privileged to get another opportunity to see Caleb again in person! We had such a great time with him over Thanksgiving and we were unsure if we would get to see him at Christmas due to the Airforce football team, the "Falcons", practice schedule as they are Bowl bound! He is coming home tomorrow at 9pm!!! What a thrill to see him play in the "Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl" on New years Eve at 12 noon!!! The best part is that Robert will get the great opportunity to go see him play. The kids understand our financial situation and that there is limited Christmas money this year like never before but they each told him that they thought that he "HAD" to go see Caleb play. The suggestion was insisted upon by Calvin. I am so proud of them for being so selfless and thinking of Caleb in this way. They love him and idolize him so much. Robert is very excited and looking forward to his trip to Fort Worth Texas in just 2 weeks. I will include some pictures o4 caleb that we have to pick a portrait from. They are so good! Well make sure to tune in NEW YEARS EVE at 12 NOON!!! ESPN

OUR HEARTS WERE BURSTING!

Grace had the great opportunity to dance this past Sunday at a large church here in a neighboring town. She had a great time dancing a solo to Micheal W smiths "The Promise" and her teacher choreographed a stunning ballet for the song. It was a rare chance to dance with a large live orchestra and live choir. We have never had the chance to watch her do a solo performance before and we were blown away! She certainly lives up to her name. We were sitting there with tears rolling down our cheeks with love and amazement and at the same time it was so evident to us that she was focused on glorifying God with every movement. Thank God for such moments.

This is the song she danced to

We are going to buy a dvd of her dancing as soon as it is released. Here is a picture of her in the dress she danced in and some of her fellow dance friends.

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK ALOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

What a beautiful sight! I am still amazed at snow! It is so magical to see these beautiful little pieces of Gods art work floating all over as it comes down and combined makes a beautiful blanket that makes the world look clean and peaceful. I have included some pic. Grace is becoming quite teh photographer and she certainly is doing a better job than I at keeping a record of our lives here in beautiful Kentucky.

My peaceful songs

I have to admit that I am a pop opera fan and these next songs although I do not understand a word take me to places of relaxation and peace.

We are so proud of him and hope to enjoy many future games with family and friends as we watch him go after his dreams. WAY TO GO CALEB!!!!

COUPON CLASS

Please visit my other blog littlecabinsavings.wordpress.com for information about the class

Thank You Robert

I have known Robert since I was 14 and he was 16 and have had the privilege of being his wife since I was 17yo almost 28 years married. I have seen him walk through all kinds of pain and loss.Years of unspeakable abuse and alcoholic parents and step parents, fighting and struggling to survive even as a teenager never catching a break. The loss of 4 unborn children. Ministry struggles, with the weight of friends that turn their back when you need them the most, the heartache of caring for a mother dying an agonizing death from ALS.The worse is surely this last loss of a father that died without Christ. This has such a palpable finality with the loss of hope that things would change and that his father would want to know him and love him or that he will ever see him again. I am always encouraged to love God more and deeper as I watch him respond to each of these losses. I pray that the suffering would be lighter but I know that God has a reason for all that he brings in our lives. His heart is truly heavy but he has always had a real sense of Gods presence in his life and our need to understand that our suffering is only for a short time and then we will be with Jesus and tears will be wiped away. I know that the last song I have below is one that gives me strength through difficult times because of how Robert used it in my life. When we lost one of our babies he laid next to me and held me so tight and started to lead me in singing this song to the Lord through our tears. I will hope to respond to suffering differently for ever thanks to this wonderful act of godliness and hope in times of despair.Thank you Robert for leading me to praise God in the midst of suffering and pain. May God grant me the ability to soothe your suffering and may we keep praising God together through life's difficulties and through the kinds of suffering that you speak of in the following sermon.

PAIN...HOPE

I have such sad news to pass along. We found out today that Roberts dad passed away Monday. We are so sad to have never had the opportunity to love him in person the way we wanted. As we have sought to find comfort for our grieving hearts we have been comforted by scripture. 1Thes.4:13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Although we must grieve Roberts dad not having hope of seeing him again. We are comforted by hope in Christ and a Just and Sovereign God. Some view verse 13 as a reason we should not mourn at all but I do believe that is wrong. We are mourning with deep sadness and loss that is hard to explain. The tears are flowing and at times are without control but non the less we have hope. I am including the following videos which may seem like strange ones to bring comfort at this time. I am reminded at this time of death that we all deserve to die with no hope and that my sin is ugly and separates me from God. All I have to do is read the ten commandments to see my failings. But...my sin has been forgiven because of the work of Christ on the cross. Please focus on the words in these videos. I hesitated to even post them since they are scenes from the passion of Christ movie. I do feel the intention of the writer and the controversy surrounding this movies release at the time put way to much focus on the role of the Jews in Christs crusifiction and I don't believe that is where the focus should be. Instead it should be on me...my sin is what held him there and my sin is why he died. I am so thankful to Him for the comfort that he brings to us at these times and the assurance that when I die I know I will be with Him in heaven not because I lived good but because He lived perfectly and is my spotless lamb that was sacrificed on my behalf and that brings me eternal hope. Please pray for Robert as we have to make some very hard decisions in the next couple of days.Pray for wisdom and for Gods comforting to be felt in the hearts of Robert...Lauren... and David jr.

PEACE!

The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes
Proverbs 21:1

No matter how we vote as individuals or a nation God is Sovereign and he is the one who controls Kings.

For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Romans 13:1

Isn't it great that we can rest our heads on our pillows tonight without even knowing for sure who won the election with peace in our hearts that God is always in control! I find this fact so comforting. God was so good to us to demonstrate these truths throughout the old testament as he appointed rulers both good and bad for His purposes and for His Glory. Praise God for His kingdom is forever. I am reminded of the words of the great hymn of the reformation entitled "a mighty fortress is our God" written by Martin Luther 500 hundred years ago. The following video is an old one of Steve Green singing this great hymn as only he can.

Volumes spoken in few words

With a son that is in the military this video really speaks to my feelings about their sacrifices. I certainly hope and pray that Caleb will never be injured or killed fighting for freedom but I hope if that is the case that no one would tolerate it being said that his sacrifice was a mistake. This young man says so much in so few words.May we all appreciate and admire these young men and women for their sacrifice.

Beautiful day!

Monday was such a wonderful day here in Kentucky. Beautiful weather and bright blue sky's with a hint of fall in the air. Josh asked me if I would like him to read the book of Ruth to me. So I made us a picnic lunch and just he and I went out side and I got to hear him read me the book of Ruth. What a wonderful story of the grace of Boaz and the grace of God. So many things can be learned by studying this great book. The beauty of it was that God gave me a beautiful memory to cherish of a day spent hearing a son read God's word. Joshua is studying this book in Sunday school and seems to really be enjoying it.Thank God for such days!

Oh Well :(

Oh ...How I wish they had won for Caleb's sake. What a close game and too bad the circumstances played out the way they did. I hope Caleb does not get that virus that is plaguing the team that the sports announcers were talking about. It still amazes me to see the Konemann name on his jersey. What a thrill. It was nice to see him live in real time. He didn't look to happy but that is to be expected. Now I can't wait till next weeks game. I am privileged to watch Calvin and Joshua play tomorrow afternoon. What a busy day we will have tomorrow with church, 2 games, and small group at our house in the evening. I better get to bed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

We have to have Roberts party on Friday because of work today and church. We just got home and it is 10:15. I will include some pictures from his party. Melissa went ahead and gave him her present. She gave him a gift certificate to Chillies and Dark Chocolate. My brother sent him a funny card. I feel bad that his birthday doesn't get the recognition of everyone else. He is such a good gift giver but never wants much. He is happy with cake and cards. The kids always get him stuff anyway. They love to give like he does so that is fun to watch. Melissa is going to Alabama Friday with Lee. She is going to be staying with Lee's grandparents and spending much time getting to know his family better as well as his church family. I miss seeing her outside of when we go to church. She helps me with 3yo Wednesday night church. She and Grace both are doing puppets every Wednesday and the kids love Mr. Obediah.
I am so thankful that God has given our family another year with such a wonderful Father and Husband to enjoy. I pray he gives us many more years to celebrate!

P.S. Extra Blessing!!! Caleb Called tonight. That was a great birthday present!!!

FUNNY STORY

There are some U.S. Naval Academy cadets at the Air Force Academy for a one year exchange program between the military Academy's. Well...this weekend is the big Navy Air force Football game at Air force. Some of the Naval cadet exchange students built a makeshift submarine on the parade field at the Academy. I guess they were trying to send a message of support for there Naval Academy. I thought this was funny and you might enjoy the pictures. One of the cadets sent these pics to his parents and they shared them with us.

Robert's Birthday

Well, it is that time of year again that we will be celebrating Robert's Birthday tomorrow. The years sure do fly by as we get old haha. We're busy making plans for the big day. The kids all have a list of what they are going to buy. It is nice that they work for their own money and buy accordingly. It will seem empty without Caleb. We do miss him and it is strange to go so long without talking to him or hearing from him. It would be nice just to be able to email him.Maybe he will email Robert for his birthday...that would be a nice surprise. We don't know how much access or time he has for such things. Well, I better go so we can shop for the needed birthday party items.

God's little creatures

What a blessing we had this past weekend. As Ike went by us on Sunday it did a lot of damage in this part of the country with 75mph winds. This caused a lot of trees to come down. My kids and a friend were in the back at our woods and found 2 baby fox squirrels that had been blown away by the wind. they did not see their mother so they brought them to me. We looked up on the internet how to take care of them and we started warming and feeding the cute little things. Then we called a licensed pet rescuer that lives near us and took them to her yesterday. They are so adorable! We saw them open their eyes for the first time on Monday. What a privilege! Caleb brought me so many baby rabbits that our dog would carry up to him and then he would bring them to me but I ended up accidentally killing a lot of them with formula:( This time was a better experience. We hated to see them go.

Melissa has moved out

What an exciting experience for Melissa as she embarks on this new adventure. She has got an apartment on campus and has been moving in all week. As I sit here and type this I am watching her sleep on the couch here at our house. She will move her dresser tomorrow and some food from here and then that will be it ...she will be all moved in.This is probably the last night that she will sleep in our house maybe ever. How did this happen?...another child grown and moved on....Their lives go by so fast you don't even realize it until it is gone.Don't get me wrong I am pleased with both of my grown children and happy that they are able to make it on their own.The ache that it causes only another parent that has experienced this will understand. So much in our lives has changed in the last 18 months that it is hard to describe the ache that I sometimes have to turn back the clock about 20 years and enjoy it all over again.I know that the next 19 months will bring even more change in our lives. I know that when Robert finishes school we will leave behind our first born daughter and who knows where God will lead us next.We will also have to leave behind a new church family that we are learning to love so much that I know it will hurt a lot to move on from them. So much uncertainty in what our futures hold but so much certainty in our sovereign God's plan.Although we don't know what to expect next we know that God will direct us as we learn to trust Him more.I hope we can stay right here in Louisville if God so designs us a place to serve full time.Even if we do I am sure God will direct Melissa to where He wants to use her and so that will still mean a painful separation.
If you are reading this and have young children...hug them tightly, for soon they will be too far away to hug.Read to them often, for that will bring back sweet memories of times spent cuddled together on a quiet evening. Talk to them at every opportunity, for soon they will be too far away and too busy to talk to you much. Pray with them and for them for soon you will long to hear their prayers. Share your heart with them and inspire them to love Jesus for the fruits of that will be the only lasting joy.Play games when you really need to wash dishes for they will not remember the dishes but you will remember the times of fun and games. Go for nature walks and see through their eyes and show them just how great God is.Go outside when they are begging you to put down that laundry and see something they just saw and can't wait for you to come look. Let them help cook even when you know it may not turn out perfect if you do.Let them make dad's birthday cake even if it is lopsided for soon they will not be home for dad's birthday anymore and may be too busy to remember. Make Christmas decorations and put them on the tree even if it does not match your perfectly planned scheme for the tree for soon you will long to see those ornaments as you hang them without even seeing your child for Christmas this year. Go to their games even when you have morning sickness for soon they will play games so far away that you cant go anymore.Make cookies with them and take them to people to see the delight that it brings the recipient and the joy it brings your child. Make crafts when they get tired of the same old boring school lessons.Praise them often for someday they may remember that someone back home will always love them and be proud of them even when they make mistakes or feel they have failed.Be aware of the time and take advantage of it for time is passing quickly.Remember that you too will be sitting where I am sitting tonight watching you child as they sleep in your house for the very last time.

News from our trip to Colorado

I know it has been a while since I updated this blog. We have and are still having problems with my computer. I hope to get it fixed this weekend so that I can upload a bunch of pictures from parents weekend. We had such a wonderful time in Colorado Springs. What a beautiful part of the country. We mostly enjoyed seeing Caleb. We were blown away by the Academy experience. I had to choke back tears many times as we followed him around the Academy and had the privilege of going to a few of his classes with him. One was a Computer science class and I was able to follow it for 5 minutes before I was lost. I sat there as Caleb answered questions that I didn't even understand and marveled at how easily things come to him. We are so proud of how far he has come and all the obstacles that he has overcome along he way. The fact that he plays Division 1 football after having to overcome so much as a freshmen in high school he continues to amaze us.The whole weekend was a joy. We loved the time we had with Alex coming and going to Colorado. We loved being able to spend Caleb's birthday with him.
The Academy is such an impressive place. You truly look into the faces of Americas future leaders. The pride for country and gratitude that wells up in you for such sacrifice, that even these young men and women that are not in a combat situation, but give up their individual freedoms for 4 long years to pursue serving their country in the future, is overwhelming. The classroom situation is unreal. The # of students per teacher is so incredible. I have heard other student in Calebs age bracket talk of their class attendance being in the hundreds.Caleb's teachers know his name and can see his computer screen form the back of the room, and in this day and age that kind of teaching just doesn't exist too many places. No wonder nearly 10 thousand of the brightest students across this nation apply every year.
As you can tell we were impressed with the Academy but we were mostly impressed with the man that our son is becoming.I can not tell you how great he wears that dress uniform.Makes my heart almost stop to think that he is my son...my little boy that used to bring my handfuls of flowers and has brought me such joy in the past and to look at him now it is almost too much to take in.Where did the time go? Who knows what the future holds for him but we will be proud of him and enjoy him no matter what is in that future. It is exciting to think about what God is going to do with him.
After I fix my computer I will post some exciting news from Melissa and will hopefully be able to post her new paintings and our pictures from parents weekend.

Boyce student uses artwork to promote adoption, spread of the Gospel

August 18, 2008
For Boyce student Melissa Konemann, creating art is a ministry. Konemann is donating the proceeds of four charcoal drawings to an adoption agency. Photo by John Gill

Many children are known for their drawing prowess. Nearly all parents could recall a time when they discovered a mural constructed by their child with red, yellow and blue crayon on a bedroom wall.

With Melissa Konemann, however, things were different. Konemann says she "remembers always painting and drawing," just not on bedroom walls. Konemann said her grandfather has a piece of art saved that she made at age three.

For Konemann, a sophomore at Boyce College, art is a ministry. During the month of July, four of Konemann's charcoal portraits were on display on the walls of Java Brewing Company's Frankfort Ave. location. The drawings depict orphans from four different countries, with Konemann planning on donating the proceeds from the sale of the pieces to a non-profit adoption organization.

"I have a heart for adoption and missions," said Konemann, a biblical and theological studies major. "I see a need for adoption, especially for us in America who are so blessed. I would love to see people in the United States bring kids into their homes.

"I know financially adoption is a challenge, so I want to do whatever I can to help. I see it as a Gospel mission, not just adopting a kid because you can't have any, but also bringing them in to share the Gospel with them. There is so much need."

Konemann said the four drawings represent orphans from Romania, Armenia, Korea and India. Using pictures of children from those different countries for inspiration, Konemann said she particularly focused on the eyes in her portraits.

"They are close-up pictures," she said. "I wanted to give it up an up close and personal view of the orphans. Something that jumped out from the page and grabbed people's attention. A lot of focus is on the eyes, which I thought was important because we express a lot through the eyes."

With each portrait, Konemann posted a Bible verse related to orphans, such as James 1:27, which tells believers to look after widows and orphans in their distress.

While Konemann said she grew up doing artwork, age 14 is when she really began taking drawing and painting seriously. Konemann said she took a few classes at a local art store, but has no training other than that. Konemann does a variety of art — including Sumie, a Japanese art style — but said she particularly enjoys composing oil paintings and charcoal drawings.

Konemann's father Robert is a master of divinity student at Southern Seminary. Robert Konemann came to Southern in the fall of 2007 after pastoring 12 years in a church he planted in Jacksonville, Fla.

Melissa said she had been looking for inspiration for her artwork for quite a while before she had the idea of donating her earnings to a non-profit organization. She said she would like for these four drawings to be the start of something bigger, of a lifelong ministry.

"I would like to expand on the orphans. I want to do some more drawings and paintings," she said. "I want to do very real, very personal pictures depicting missions, whether that is people groups, missionaries or converts. I would like to do several different aspects and several different series of people from different countries. That would be non-profit as well, with the money going to missions."

Ideally, Konemann said she would be able to generate enough income from some of her pieces to enable her to create a good number of non-profit items.

From an early age, Konemann began creating art that lasted, a talent she is glad to use.

"It is exciting for me to do a piece and watch it come alive," she said.

NEW ROSTER POSTED ON THE ACADEMY WEBSITE

http://goairforcefalcons.cstv.com/
go here and click on football then the next page has links on the right just click "roster"

This is a link to the new roster that was listed today. Caleb and his friend AJ are on this roster and we are so excited about going to see him next week on parents weekend and having the honor of meeting AJ and his parents. The drive is 19hours and we are going straight through UHG! We will have the joy of bringing Caleb's girlfriend Alex with us which will help break up the boredom. She is a saint to even attempt it. Good thing she comes from a family of 6 kids or else she would probably jump out of the car half way through Kansas.

To Caleb

If you ever get a chance to check out this blog I just wanted you to know how much we all love you.We are praying hard for your success on and off the field.I can't imagine how hard your schedule is right now with all the football and so many academic classes combined with all the military stuff you have to do. We are confident in your ability to handle it but I am sure it is hard at times. We have heard that many people have a bad cough that went around at Jacks Valley and pray you don't have that. The boys each had a game Saturday. They had moved Calvin to defensive end last week during practice but changed him back to middle linebacker. He wants to play linebacker I think mostly so you will be proud of him. Joshua played middle linebacker and running back. He got a few carries and some great tackles. They both lost their games and we had a sad Saturday afternoon around the house due to the losses. Joshua reminds us of you out on the field...very fast and smart about where the ball is.Calvin is a powerhouse.Last week he had a quarterback sack...a recovered fumble and an interception that he ran in for a touchdown. They miss you a lot. Melissa is busy with working and classes begin this week. Lee is back so she is busy trying to spend the little time they have together. He was over last night for small group and stayed to watch some of the Olympics which I am sure you have not had time to watch. grace is about to start dance for the year and it looks like she will be there everyday of the week. Papa has 3 clients now and is hoping to add a few more as God sends them his way. Grandma is recovering well from her surgery last week. Dad starts classes today and I ma teaching at the churches homeschool meeting tomorrow night. So that should catch you up on our current activities. I would have sent the big box of protein bars but someone said you had to pay package pickup so I will bring a couple of boxes full next week when we come to parents weekend. Is their anything else that you need us to bring. I know you don't have regular email yet so maybe you can let us know through face book. Dad has a face book now...I know...hard to believe and kinda funny.
Even though we don't know much about what your days are including and all we do trust that you are doing well and pray for God's continued blessings in your life. You have been given much and the hard part of that is now much is required but we are sure that you can handle it. Please know that even though we are confident we still pray for you many times a day.We know that God will direct your paths exactly where he wants them and we can rest in that.We miss you terribly but our aching hearts are soothed by the knowledge that you are happy.Have fun ...study hard...and work hard on the field.Looking forward to seeing! I love you.

My mom's Surgery

My mother had surgery yesterday. This was scheduled for the 28th of August but was moved up suddenly. She has had some problems with her right eye being very irritated by an in turning lower lid. The eyelashes were turning directly into her eye making it always painful. The plastic surgeon cut across the lower lid and turned it back out and then took a piece from her lip and sewed it to the inside of her eyelid to prevent the lid from turning back in. They had to do this with just local anesthesia because she is high risk for general due to the Muscular dystrophy. She had to endure multiple shots of local anesthesia in her lower lid as well as her lower lip. The biggest problem she had was she kept feeling the knife and the stitches OOUUUCCCHHH!. She said she never wants to do that again. She is healing fine but will be swollen and bruised for a while. What a trooper! Thanks to those who were praying and please keep praying for a short recovery.

GREAT NEWS!!!

Caleb called today and the new depth chart came out and was posted in the locker room today showing the #1 and the #2 slots for each position and Caleb is in the #2 slot for the Varsity Falcons team. He let me know that this could change in the next couple of weeks but if he sticks in this #2 slot he will be able to travel to all the away games and have a great chance of playing which is a great accomplishment for a freshman. His friend AJ in the picture below has also made the #2 on the offense. Please continue to pray for their success in the next couple weeks as they approach their first Division 1 football game!

TO THOSE WE LOVE

As I prepare to preach on the morrow there is a vortex of emotion swirling within. Those emotions range from apathy to sadness to anxious anticipation. The temptation toward apathy comes from fighting for years to proclaim God’s word to only see the labor of my heart vanish like a zephyr of smoke. I know this is not true, but it is how it feels. The sadness comes from realizing that this next sermon will not be delivered in the context of a congregation that I dearly love and from whom I have felt dear love. I so do miss our congregation. I miss it like one that longs for the sacred; a longing to be in the midst of the cloud of His presence enjoying the communion of the saints with their God and experiencing the fellowship of their love. The anxious anticipation comes from a great desire to proclaim the truth of God through His Word. To walk with Jesus again along the shores of the sea, to watch Him speak, to see hearts changed, to be overwhelmed by fear and then to have that fear transformed into shear delight. This is what preaching is for me. It is to know and proclaim the worth of the kingdom, but in an existential way. It is a desire to stand at the threshold of His glory and see the beauty of His presence transported by His Spirit through earthen vessels. The artist paints, the musician plays, the singer expresses their soul through melodies that echo through the hearts of men. So how do I express my heart? I long to roar like the lion, not with empty vibrato, but with soul emptying expressions, to this end, not for the praise of men, but to know and feel the pleasure of the God whom I desire to praise. Maybe these are the musings of a childish heart, but they are the thoughts of one who is a son of the Lion of Judah. I pray that God may use them and me to glorify Himself. Lord help me I pray, will You stand with me on the morrow.

Please pray

The above link is the passage he will be preaching on Sunday

I wanted to ask you all for prayer for Robert this Sunday. He has been asked to preach at a church right here in Taylorsville that is without a pastor. We are not looking for a church right now as he is very focused on finishing school. but we are open to the Lords sovereign leading. Pray for clarity and wisdom. Once again God has provided in mysterious ways. I have had a bad tooth ache and was taking an old prescription for an antibiotic so that I could avoid the high cost of going to the dentist. ..I know not to smart but we are on a very tight budget while he is finishing school. I was supposed to go with a friend to a book sale when the pain was just too bad so I had to call and cancel. Without going into great detail with her about our situation we agreed to try and go next week. Well as the day went on the pain continued to get worse.I had to drag myself out the door to get Robert since our truck was in the shop and he had no way home. Well...on our way home I received a call from the friend from earlier in the day.She said that she and her husband talked to their dentist about me and that if I could get to the dentist by 5:45 then he would see me for no charge! He did not only see me they did xrays and shot me up with Novocain so that I would not feel any pain for many hours. It was such a relief. I know one tooth has to have a root canal but the one that is hurting the most has a spot on the root that they won't be able to tell what it is until the infection is cleared up. If you remember that a couple of years ago I had a tumor in that same exact spot that was removed but the Dr. said it may grow back again. It was benign the last time so that is good but the surgery is very costly. So please pray for that as well. I am just so amazed at how God provided for us yesterday. Please remember to pray for us and we will certainly continue to pray for you..

Tent city coming to life

picture of the troops starting their march to the valley. This is apparently a big deal with many people lining the parade route with signs and hollers of encouragement.

Well yesterday the basic cadets got to get out for a few hours to a sponsors home. Caleb had the priviledge of going to head coach Troy Calhouns house for the day with 5 others. He enjoyed his time and was able to make a short call home. He is loving it and was very positive in everything that he said. The first half of Basic Training is done and today starts the second half with the troops marching to Jack's Valley which will be home for the next couple of weeks. I have included the following description from the webguy taking all these great pictures.

What is Jack's Valley?

Jacks Valley is a 3,300 acre training complex where the Basics will spend the majority of 2nd BCT. The location is the valley north of North Gate Boulevard. They go out there, pitch big tents, and camp out. They will return from Jacks Valley on Saturday, July 26th.

What do they do out there? Remember when we were young and watched movies like Private Benjamin, Stripes, Officer and a Gentleman, etc? All of the running over obstacles; falling in the mud; crawling through dirt. That's it!

I will try and post more pictures when I find them, The preceding is a picture of the troops starting their march to the valley. This is apparently a big deal with many people lining the parade route with signs and hollers of encouragement.

More Field Day

Do you think he looks like he is having a little fun or what?I can't tell you how good it is to see his smile and know that he is happy and loving it there at the
academy. The prep school sure seems to have paid off in many ways. It was great preparation for this years experience at least so far.

Looks like trash talkin to me LOL

Looks like a challenge is being made to the opposing team
